As we begin a New Year let us pray for world peace. May everyone enjoy a life of freedom from war and fighting.

Moses
told the people that God would send another prophet after him to speak
the words of God. He warned them that other prophets would be present
who did not speak the words of God.

1 Corinthians 8: 1 – 13
Paul
mediates between two groups of people in the church in Corinth – one
group objects to those who are eating meat that has been offered to
idols. He reminds them that real Christian knowledge is rooted in love.
Mark 1: 21 – 28
While
Jesus was teaching in the synagogue, an unclean spirit recognised him
as the Holy One of God. Jesus silenced the spirit and commanded it to
the leave the possessed man.
