The Scripture Readings for May 19, 2013 are:
Acts 2:1–17
The description of the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples in Jerusalem and the effect of the Holy Spirit on them. Peter quotes the prophet Joel in the Hebrew Scriptures as proof that this event was foretold.
Romans 8:14–17
Paul describes for the people of the church in Rome the new life that the Spirit gives and how they become adopted children of God as a result.
John 14:8–18, 25–27
Jesus tells the disciples that whoever has seen him has seen the Father. He also tells them he is leaving them physically but that he is sending the Holy Spirit to continue to teach them.
