Sunday Worship

People at Centennial United Church enjoy services that have a traditional feel. We come to these services in the expectation that we will encounter the Divine in the words and the music.

Our choir provides spiritual energy through its music, inspiring the listeners. They also provide leadership for congregational hymns helping the congregation in their singing.

Our worship leader, Rev. Alanna Menu, on the other hand has a casual approach to the formal style which provides an interesting counterpoint. She attempts to create a sacred space of prayer during worship time at the same time as she uses humour to emphasize certain theological points.

The Worship Unit of our Council works to ensure that the Sanctuary is a worshipful area. These volunteers ensure that there are flowers, candles and the right vestments for each liturgical season. They also provide beautiful decorations for the Sanctuary on special days, such as Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Four times a year they make certain that our Communion table is ready for this spiritual feast.

Children are welcome and appreciated at our services. They can choose to participate in the whole service or go to Sunday School with our qualified volunteers.

Those who come to worship with us are greeted at the door with a bulletin outlining the order of service. We welcome people to stay after the service for fellowship and refreshments.
