We had a very successful bridge luncheon on April 26th and we want to thank all those who helped to make the event a pleasant and successful one. Some of the ladies are also still busy knitting. June Bachman has made 225 teddies, Lois McGill 84 and Norma Hardy has made 25 bags in which the children in 3rd world countries can keep them. Anyone who likes to knit or sew bags could be given a pattern. If you have 4 ply yarn which you would like to donate to this project please bring it to June Bachman. Lois McGill has also knit 15 toques, which were given to Dr. Keith Martin to be taken to Africa by our peace keepers, and she has also knit 65 toques, which were given to the Open door. Doris Weigel has knit 8 sets of toques, mitts and scarves to be sent to children in the 3rd world. If you like to knit but don't want to try putting the teddies together bring them to June and she will see that they get to Sylvia Hatfield who is in charge of a group at Juan de Fuca recreation centre who will do this part of the work. Besides knitting and planning events we do have a good fellowship time and would be happy to have any ladies who are interested to join us on the 3rd Wednesday of each month except July, August and December.

The Members of the Nell Bell UCW group of Centennial U.C. in Victoria, B.C. have an interesting project to help children in third world countries. They are knitting Teddy bears as seen in this picture. They are also making bags in which the teddies are put so the children can keep them safe. So far 324 have been knit. Toques, scarves and mitts are also being knit and these go to children in Africa, South and Central America and other parts of the world where needed. These are mostly transported by our peace keepers.

Our Spiritual Journey
Queenswood Retreat 2003

Submitted by Doris Weigel

What a special day we enjoyed at Queenswood with Alana Menu! Our topic this year was "Our Spiritual Journey". Everyone's journey is different, and takes different paths. However, the most important thing is that each one leads to God. Some may take a wrong fork at a crossroad in life, but God is forgiving. If we backtrack to find the correct path, we WILL find our way. What is there to help us on our journey? The Bible, Prayer, and others who are focused upon Him. God caries our burdens, and He gave us His Son to help to show us the way. Our nourishment comes from our Bible, our prayers, nature, music and each other. The Church is a place to rest, and to regroup our energy. Our home comes from knowing there is a life after death, when we will be with Him!
